2017 Reading Challenge

For the past month or so, I’ve seen a number of posts on various platforms talking about reading challenges for 2017.  While we’ve already nearly completed the month of January, I thought I would jump on the bandwagon.

I’ve found a lot of reading challenge lists for 2017, but none spoke to me entirely. One great resource I found was The Master List of 2017 Reading Challenges on girlxoxo.com.  I decided to compile my own reading challenge from various sources.  I’ll link to those below.  While I’m not anticipating getting near checking off everything on this list, I will do my best to see how many I can get through.  Some books may check off more than 1 category, so maybe I’ll do better than I think…only time will tell!

At the very least, this will help motivate me to read more than I have been over the last little while.  I go in spurts.  I’ll read voraciously for a few months, and then read next to nothing for another 4-5 months.  My challenge to myself is to get back into a habit of reading regularly.  Having completed an English Lit. major, you’d think I would have built that into my routine. But life gets in the way.  Time to refocus my efforts and get back to expanding my mind.

Here is my 2017 reading challenge list: 2017-reading-challenge

I will post periodically with updates.  Maybe I’ll inspire someone to pick up a new book or author.

So tell me, dear reader, will you take a reading challenge too?

My list was built using a few different sources:

  1. I’ve learned my lesson about reading challenges (where I won’t let myself break the rules). I’ve set a goal on goodreads to read 15 books this year. I’ve taken a look at your list though and I really like it! My “idea of books to read” came from a Goodreads group called “Book Bingo” It’s actually very similar to your list… but is in a 5×5 grid. I’m 2 books in so far. Currently also re-reading The Little Prince (which I’d really like to find en francais)
